Who We Are
God uses all sorts of people to do his work. The Bible has numerous examples of how God called ordinary people to accomplish His work. David was a shepherd boy, Gideon a farmer, Hannah a homemaker, Joseph a slave, Mary a peasant girl, Moses a shepherd in exile, and Peter a fisherman. Their willingness to allow God to work through them fulfilled His plans. Kelly and Trisha describe themselves as very ordinary; they are answering His call in their lives so that God can work through them to complete His will.
Kelly, a native of Bowling Green, was raised in a Christian home by Maxwell and Faye Lawrence. He has four brothers: Dwayne, Buddy, Terry, and Billy. It was during VBS at Glendale Baptist Church that Kelly asked Jesus into his life. He graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1983 and obtained his master HVAC license. Kelly took over the family heating and cooling business in 1987; he owned and operated J&J Sheet Metal in Bowling Green, Kentucky for 21-years. As an active member of Woodburn Baptist Church, he assisted with construction projects, served as a building trustee, and also served on the mission and hospitality committees. Kelly has been on several mission trips to the Good Shepherd Children’s Home in Honduras.
Trisha, a native of Franklin, Kentucky, was also raised in a Christian home. Her father was the late Rev. Thomas Boles, Sr. and her mother is Elizabeth Colter Boles. Trisha has three siblings, Sam, Joyce, and Tommy. Trisha asked the Lord into her life during a revival service that was preached by her father. After her father’s sudden death, Trisha relocated to Bowling Green with her family in 1979. She graduated from Bowling Green High School and attended Western Kentucky University. Trisha’s career path has been diverse; she worked in the healthcare sector for 19-years and in the non-profit economic development and technology consulting sectors for 8-years. Her most recent position was executive assistant to the CEO of Connected Nation. Trisha, also a member of Woodburn Baptist Church, served on the personnel, building, hospitality, and preschool committees.
Kelly and Trisha dated throughout high school and were married on June 4, 1983. They have two children. Hannah is married to Jose Barahona Garcia; they reside in Honduras. Andrew is married to Sara Roberts Lawrence; they reside in Bowling Green.
